Yes, it can happen. Lets be honest. As rare as it may arise, sometimes no matter how hard we try, the number of hours invested, or the sheer tenacity of doing the best job possible, sometimes things can and do go wrong.
This 750 sq ft. Workshop, seen below on the left side of the screen, was previously "designed" by a former owners children as a "gift" to their dad.
The new owner wanted to begin the remodeling process and contracted us to grind off the old paint and lay down a new Epoxy Pride floor. The previous coatings took us two full days to remove.
This has never happened to us in the past.... Due to unforseen circumstances and unknown to us at the time, concrete dust generated by the preparation process filtered thru numerous air ducts and throughout their lovely home.... Yuck.
Just prior to laying down the epoxy, the owner came to me on the third day to let us know about the mess inside his home. As the owner of Amazing Garages, I was devestated by this unfortunate situation.
Yes..., of course, I immediately agreed to shoulder the cost of an entire home deep cleaning by the professional staff of his choice.
Additionally, unknown to us, the two epoxy material containers delivered for the project by the manufacturer, were also slightly off-tone. (Note the lighter line about mid floor).
Then, once we laid down the material, the color mismatch appeared. What could we do? In the end, based on the customers direction and wishes, we covered all costs to clean his home and discounted the completed project by over 80%. As you could see by the photos below, his flooring was still vastly improved and we agreed 100% to his financial terms of settlement.
As he said to me, "companies are not remembered by just doing good work, but by how they handle problems and treat their customers when the unexpected occurs".
I could not sleep at night knowing we failed this client had we not made satisfactory amends.
